Three Pathways to Prosperity

Real Estate Investing, Strategic Stock Market Investing, and Entrepreneurship
By Carlos C. Johnson III, President/CEO GoldCorp Financial Group
I was taught the traditional way to go about succeeding was to go to school, get a good education, then land a safe secure job working for a big corporation. After 30 or 40 years of hard work and keeping my nose to the grindstone, I would get a nice fat pension for the rest of my life. I don't know about you, but nowadays, I’m not aware of too many people who have lived out that scenario. By the way, in today’s economy, is there such a thing as a safe secure job?
I was blessed with the opportunity to learn how the game really works. I discovered early on what it was that interested me. My primary goal was to learn how the money game works. So I started my career in finance and investments. The rest is history.
After a long and successful career, I turned my attention to coaching others in the areas of strategic stock market investments, entrepreneurship, and real estate investing. I have established partnerships and relationships with some of America's foremost experts in these fields of expertise. I have made it my life’s work to try and provide opportunities for black people to educate themselves on these three pillars of finance. I heard a saying that goes, “Formal Education Will Make You A Living….Self-Education Will Make You Rich.”
Instead of waiting for the economy to turn around, or for the yen to do this and the dollar to do that, and the housing market to do the other thing, we need to start thinking about educating ourselves in the fields of finance. They say ignorance is bliss. I say ignorance will keep you broke. Let’s stop the self-pity act and start bootstrapping it. I understand you may not have all the loot you need to start a new venture. But I keep reading story after story of black people who said enough is enough and decided to take matters into their own hands. They decided to go out and do all they can with whatever resources they had available at the time.
I believe there are three pathways to wealth and prosperity. Why do I say that? Because over ninety-percent of the world’s wealthy population got that way in one of three ways, or possibly using all three methods (real estate investing, strategic stock market investing, or entrepreneurship).
I feel if black people took advantage of the opportunities that are available to us, or to a lesser extent, educated ourselves on the opportunities available to us; some of us just may be able to improve our lot. As you can see, I’m a big advocate of financial self-education. Why? Because it’s free. It does not cost us anything (but time), to go out and learn about these three pillars of finance. Time and time again, I go to the libraries, workshops, and seminars and just about any place where finance and making money is being discussed and I see black people outnumbered 10 to 1. Is this a growing trend? I don’t think so, because it’s probably always been like that.
The Law of Evolution seems to be “survival of the fittest.” I say the Law of Finance is “survival of the educated.” We overcame slavery, we overcame segregation, and we won the right to vote. It seems that we just can’t overcome “economic and financial slavery.” It seems that anything that has to do with physical might, we can overcome. For once, I would like to see us overcome the mental barriers that seem to be holding us back in the world of real estate investing, strategic stock market investing, and entrepreneurship.
The Law of Carlos Johnson states that “if you become educated in the three pillars of finance, you move ahead…if not, then I wish you all the luck in the world because you’re going to need it. Especially in this economy.
