INSPIRATIONS FROM A MULTI TALENTED ROYALTON(TM)
By Andrea Hoffman
Diversity Affluence
Victoria Rowell, is an actress, dancer, singer, model, philanthropist, author and mother. As she moves on to the next phase in her career, Diversity Affluence was able interview this talented, gifted, compassionate individual. As we've found out, she doesn't only light up the stage, she lights up the entire room.
Diversity Affluence: Where did you grow up?
Victoria Rowell: The rural countryside of Southern Maine.
DA: What inspired you to choose acting as a career and at what age did you begin?
VR: Acting was always encouraged, be it through productions in our woodshed or in the ballet world. I began making a living at it at age 26.
DA: What do you do when you are not acting?
VR: Acting occupies a fraction of my whole life but makes a quality of life possible. I have a husband, 4 children (2 biological, 2 step-children), and 3 dogs, I write books, and mentor.
DA: If you weren't acting, what career path would you choose?
VR: Social work.
DA: What's the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
VR: I'm the 13th direct descendant of John Howland and The Mayflower Society.
DA: Do you belong to any member-based organizations? If so, which ones?
VR: There are many that bear mentioning, but I will list: Advisory Council at Princeton University for African American Studies, American Ballet Theatre (friend), Americans for the Arts Board Member emeritus, New York Urban League Advisory, Authors Guild, Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.
DA: Do you support any charities? If so, which ones and why?
VR: The Rowell Foster Children's Positive Plan and The Annie E. Casey Foundation/Casey Family Services because we are committed to children and families.
DA: What is your ethnic background?
VR: African American, European (but who isn't).
DA: What/where is your favorite vacation destination?
VR: Madrid, by way of Maine.
DA: What are two of your favorite secret indulgences?
VR: Nancy Grace and Lady Gaga.
DA: Share with our readers some life lessons or wisdom that you've learned in your life journey.
VR: "Dignity consists not in possessing honors, but in the consciousness that we deserve them." ~Aristotle
DA: What's next for Victoria Rowell?
